In The Name of Religion
What is God?
God is a concept devised my Man to help him fill the fissure in his understanding of reality because of his borne perception skills. With borne or limited perception skills I refer to the human ability to perceive only 3 dimensions of space when this world is a multidimensional universe. (The Multidimensional Universe is a theory that is still being debated at various levels by physicists. If you want to know more about it is here Link
In an interesting analogue that we can all relate to can you explain color red to some one who was born blind. He/She can not perceive color and we have no method of explaining it to him. It is something that can be felt but can not be explained.
Now is there God?
Yes, but definitely not, as we have defined. It is the force that drives the universe. It is the force which has laid down the rules of the universe, which keeps this universe ticking. In one of the books that I was reading it was rightly put it…it cannot be defined, cannot be classified and definitely cannot be felt in the present state of human consciousness.
One might be able to experience the force in a state of enlightened consciousness which can be attained under meditation.
Did God lay down the rules that we know today?
(This is a personal opinion) No, all the rules that we know today moral, ethical, religious have been defined by humans in the name of GOD. These rules have been made to make place where we live a better place to live in harmony and peace.
If you study all the religious granths, they all say the same, but tailor made to the era and place where they originate.
Then what is religion?
Religion is a promise taken by men/women to follow the above rules laid down by those great men and women whom we mistake as god or incarnations of god.
In all the labyrinth of spiritual hullabaloo we have lost track of the essence of the religious institution
. It, in my opinion, was created to bring in harmony and collectiveness in this dichotomous world but over all these year it has lead to more and more destruction. The single most significant reason of death and destruction over the ages has been religion now I wonder was it all in vain one the many sites that speak about it Link
(This is a personal view point and I guess there are millions of different view points which are different from mine. I mean no offense to any religion but just a reservation on how they are practiced)
